Marazzi Powder

You are probably wondering what is the Industrial style and which elements will characterise an industrial style bathroom? What are the decorations, colours, finishings and so on to have an industrial look bathroom?

We will try to answer some of your questions and explain one of the trends that nowadays influence bathroom renovations.

Let’s go back in history to get a clearer idea. Industrial style is the result of upgrading and remodelling an old factory, warehouse or area once used for industrial production. These new residential areas, result of the closing down of factories or big working space areas, were remodelled without altering their original structure. Their renovation kept their initial impression and look however their use was upgraded to private homes.

The first thing that probably comes to your mind when thinking about Industrial style is that of the typical New York loft with large metal frame windows, exposed bricks, high ceilings and vintage furnishing.

Industrial chic has slowly become famous and now it can be found almost anywhere. In fact, many spaces have been designed from scratch as industrial and not as a result of a renovation. If you want to give your bathroom an industrial look then go for a simple and slim design. Vintage look vanity: ceramics that look like concrete, solid wood or other alternative materials.

The colours to keep in mind, apart from the white to contrast the exposed bricks walls, are black and dark brown together with greys and a bit of bronze. Natural wood, preferably hard wood, is used to give warmth to the whole area.

Small bathroom tips

If you’re planning to renew your small bathroom but don’t have the option to add a window, we can give you some solutions and styling tips to bring that light and freshness to the room. Your small and dark bathroom will have the feeling of a large and bright space.

One of the main and most important aspects is not to underestimate the humidity and ventilation because if they are not dealt with correctly you will end up having mold stains to walls and ceiling.  So, let’s take a closer look at some tips to style a small and dark bathroom.

The first obstacle to tackle in renovating a small and dark bathroom is the colour of the tiles. Clear shades, and in particular white, help to make the space bigger and brighter. If white is not your style, then opt for a light and warm beige as Marazzi Cult off White or Marazzi Spazio Off White

If, on the other hand, white is totally your style but you wish to have a less clinical look you can match the white with yellow or orange. Those two colours compensate the absence of natural light and give life to an otherwise dull space.

The second aspect to consider is the mirror. Mirrors can influence our perception of space. If you place the mirror with the right angle, it will produce the visual effect of enlargement of the room. In front of the entrance door or on top of the sink, a large mirror will fulfil the double function of giving depth and reflecting the light.

Eco-Friendly tiles

Just like many people out there, here at Cipriano Italian Bathroom & Home Design, we are also concerned about doing the right thing for our environment. Our way of doing so is to partner with Italian Ceramic companies and suppliers who share our beliefs.

When looking for an environmentally friendly tile there is so much information available, that you end up feeling overwhelmed with no idea where to start. The first step then is to consider that not only “recycled” tiles are eco-friendly. Many companies, especially Italian porcelain and ceramics manufacturers, are spending their resources in finding new efficient ways of putting into the market eco-sustainable products.

So, what should you consider if it’s a new non-recycled tile? These two questions are just an example of what we ask ourselves when considering a new Italian porcelain company:

Is the company making enough efforts to minimize and reduce energy, water, and wastage during manufacturing?

Is the company making efforts to put into practice green business actions?

Feature Wall

Should I have a feature wall in my bathroom or living room? What are the options when thinking about having a feature wall?

Those are some of the questions we often receive from our customers. We always encourage our customers to follow their heart and think that there are a few good reasons to have a feature wall in your house.

You can choose the newest trend with the 3D tiles or the more classic wooden look, marble look, cement or 70’s look tiles. In all cases, if you decide to have a feature tile in your house you are saying you are bold, you are saying you have the courage and believe in your taste.

The three-dimensional tiles on a feature wall create a dramatic, important effect in a room that has rarely been seen in the past. Depending on the time of the day, the lights and the objects you put around as decoration, 3D tiles change the whole environment and the optical effect created on the wall can be a point of difference. Having this kind of wall finish will make you fall in love with your spaces over and over again. Come visit our showroom in Byron Bay to check on the great variety of textured, 3D Italian tiles we have.
